The 2010 Rating Revaluation took effect from 1st April 2010. As a result the majority of commercial properties experienced changed rateable values.
This new Rating List was deposited following a period of economic difficulty and the credit crunch has clearly had a major effect on rental values throughout the UK. The antecedent valuation date for this revaluation is 1st April 2008. This also coincided with the much criticised changes in empty property relief that have punished many commercial landowners who have been unable to find tenants.
